Using Filters
By default, all items are shown in a view. To find specific items you can specify a filter. These filters can
be saved to be reused. There are two option for filtering, you can use the quick filter bar which is located in the upper part of the main screen or you can use the filter dialog which allows for filter on more then one field and has more options.
Quick Filter bar
By default a quick filter bar is shown in the upper part of the main screen. Using this bar you can quickly filter
on one criteria / condition. Select a field in and then type or select the value you want to filter on.
If there are saved filters present, you can select a filter from the "Filters" list (right-handside of the quick filter bar). Please read the next chapter for advanced filtering and how to save a filter.
You can disable or enable the quick filter bar from the settings menu "Toggle Quick Filter bar" or by pressing the F7 key.
Filter Dialog
Go to the filter dialog via the "Filter" button, which is available from the toolbar. You can filter the items shown using various combinations of conditions and options. Filters can be saved to be re-used and are, after they have been saved, available from the quick filterbar as well as from this dialog. First I will explain how to define a filter.
Conditions
Keywords can be entered in any or all of the search fields. You can enter more than one value in a field by separating keywords with the ‘%’ character.
For example, the search condition “easy%creator” will retrieve all items which contain "easy" AND "creator" (note that there are no spaces between the ‘%’ character and the keywords.
To clear the current conditions, press reset. All filled conditions are cleared and you can start a new filter.
Options
Comply with all conditions
Specify if the results must comply with all the search conditions or with any one of the search conditions
Example: the following search conditions have been specified: name = “test”, location = “CD1”
If the "Comply" option is checked, the result will return items which contain the name "test" AND the location "CD1".
If the "Comply" option is not checked, the result will return all items which contain either the name "test" OR the location "CD1".
Match exact search conditions
If this option is enabled the resulting items must comply with the exact search conditions. If the option is disabled the search condition is used to see if the field contains the value
Example: the following search condition has been specified:
name = DOOM 3
If this option is checked then only results with "DOOM 3" in the name field will be returned. If the option is unchecked then all items with "DOOM" or "3" in the name field will be returned.
Sort on
Sorts the results by the selected fields
Saving a new Filter
You can save a filter so it can be reused. Once you have filled the preferred conditions and options press "save new" in the "Filters" panel. A small dialog will popup where you can enter the name of the filter. Enter the name and close the dialog. The filter is now saved and can be selected from the list in this dialog or from the quick filter bar.
Modifying an existing Filter
Select the filter you want to modify from the list in the "Filters" panel. Make the preferred changes and press "save" once you have finished. The changes have now been stored.
