Importing Music Files


Using the import feature you can quickly retrieve information from the CD-Rom or hard drive. This feature is found in the “Tools” menu and has the name ‘music file import’

Directory / File

The directory from which music files

Location Identifier

The name of the CD or the location where the CD is stored

Storage Medium

Optionally you can select the Storage Media type on which the to be imported data resides

Online Service Configuration

You can choose to use an online service to find missing information for the music files you are importing. Data Crow will first parse all files and then use the online service to find missing information for the retrieved music albums. You can choose to disable the online search to improve performance

Directory information usage

When the music files are sorted in the directories, Data Crow can use this information

Do not use directory information
Only use the information from the music file itself, such as the tag information of an mp3.

Use directory name as album name
The directory in which the music file resides has the album name (example ../../Abba Gold)

Use directory name as artist name
The directory in which the music file resides has the artist name (example ../../Abba)

Use directory name as artist name and its sub-directory as album name
The directory in which the music file resides has the artist name and its sub-directory has the album name (example ../../Abba/Abba Gold)

Search the specified folder and its sub folders
